Six years

Today marks six years of wedded bliss for Brett and I. We got married Thanksgiving weekend of 2007. I had always dreamed of a Christmas wedding filled with white lights, cold weather, and all the nostalgic Christmas songs we grew up loving. It was a fairy-tale evening that I will never forget!

Since our anniversary and Christmas season is upon us again, the other day I was listening to our wedding CD that we gave out as favors to all our guests. It was kind of like a "soundtrack" for the evening with songs from the church service and the reception. One of my favorites on the disc is "Thanksgiving Prayer" which we had the children's choir sing during our wedding ceremony.

Because it's Thanksgiving time, I thought I would share the lyrics. This song chokes me up every time I hear it. Even more now than ever. I absolutely love it that our wedding anniversary falls around Thanksgiving time because its the perfect time to reflect on all of the blessings our marriage has brought us.

For all the blessings You have granted us
Lord give us thankful hearts, we pray
For life, and health and happiness
and for the gift of each new day

For all our families and loved ones
The friends we meet along the way
We thank you Lord, they are your gifts
In Your service let us Your love repay.

Through all our lives we pray watch over us
The passing days soon turn to years
The spring will turn to wintertime
and we shall know both joy and tears

But there is one who never changes
Through all eternity the same
Be with us Lord, for ever more
Alleluia! We praise Your Holy name!

I thought we were blessed when we got married--and we were--but Wow! God has given us so many more blessings though out the last six years.

Obviously our two beautiful and healthy children are at the top of the list--then there's our two wonderful careers, a beautiful place to call home, the most amazing group of friends with common interests and values that are all just right down the street with children who are growing up with ours, our two sets of loving parents who help out every chance they get, we have our health, and a sweet little puppy dog who just wants to be near us at all times! We honestly have everything we could ever want in life and could not be more thankful. I will spend the rest of my life giving thanks to the Lord!

Happy Anniversary Brett! I'm so thankful for our strong marriage and all the blessings it has brought us!
