Kim's Baby Shower

Ahh...don't you just love throwing a shower? I do! One of my closest childhood friends, Kim, is expecting her first child in September so we all got together to throw her a baby shower today. It really turned out to be a beautiful event and it was so great to see Kim and her growing baby bump. I love this girl and can't wait to meet Baby Crew Dale Carson! Below is a collage I put together of all the details.

Theme: Celebrate
Colors: Soft blues and green

And here is a picture that I snapped of the beautiful mom-to-be and me...
And here is Winston in his custom "Welcome Baby Crew" outfit that Mom made him. He modeled it like a supermodel.

Rooms that Inspire

I have such an obsession with beautiful things. Whenever I stumble across a photo of a room that I absolutely drool over, I always right click-save to my desktop. Throughout the years I have acquired quite the large file. Here are a few of my favorites. Aren't they beautiful...

Girls Night Out

I love a good girls night out! This weekend Elizabeth came in town from Dallas, so us high school friends got together to catch up! We ate at Soma Sushi and then went out on Washington. I love these girls!

Kyle's Karpentry Kraft

Yep, that is the name I made up for my brother-in-law's business that I think he should start. Kyle came in town this weekend and stayed with us. He made us 2 fabulous lawn chairs for the backyard!
Painting on the stain...
The final product....now I just need to find some cute cushions.

Sunday Funday

This past weekend some friends came over for a "Sunday Funday." We had a blast swimming and grilling out! Here are some pictures of the festivities...

Clothing Inspirations

Based on the clothes I consistently buy, I would describe my style as feminine, classic and very tailored. Recently, I have been clipping photos of styling that I love for inspiration as I shop. Below are a few looks I love.

I know this DVF dress is a few seasons ago, but I still want to find it....

Happy 4th of July!

We had a wonderful 4th of July at our friend Lauren's loft. Her apartment complex allowed people to view the Houston firework show from their rooftop, so we loaded up the cooler and all went over there to partake in good food, great conversation, and a wonderful fireworks show. We are so thankful to have such amazing friends here in Houston.

Here is a picture of us all on the rooftop.

Lauren, Mo, Samantha, Lindsey & Patrick...I love you all dearly. :)

Although almost the entire night was a success, there was one thing that wasn't...my "made from scratch" red velvet American Flag cake.

Now let me just say that I am NO artist! Somehow, I made the mistake of just putting 2 red stripes on it. That's right, 2. What was I thinking? It looked so ridiculous I considered not taking it at all. But I thought, well at least it will taste good since I made it from scratch...

GAG. First of all, I followed the recipe exactly, so I have no idea what went wrong. Let's just say the texture resembled a gummy bear? Strange, yes. Also strange- the cake weighted about 25-30 pounds...hmm...Thank goodness I took the first bite so that I could warn everyone. I love that everyone still tried it to be nice, but I caught them sneaking outside to spit it out. Ha! At least we had a good laugh.

Note to self: always stick to the boxed cake batter. Cheaper and actually edible. This cooking mishap falls at the top of my list, even topping my runny quiche of 2007. At least I try, right?
