Going Nautical

Six of my closest friends are throwing Brett and I a nautical themed couples baby shower in August. We are so touched by their generosity and could not be more excited. I wanted to find something to wear that would fit the theme, so I headed over to Anthropologie to see what I could find. I cannot believe how many great nautical-inspired things are out there--and a lot of them are on sale right now! Since I pretty much needed to order the largest size they had and then alter it around the belly, my choices were limited. I had to buy 5 dresses so I can see which one will still fit in 2 more weeks (ha, ha). But here is what I would love to wear if I were still a size 6.

How cute is the back of this dress?

A vintage nautical look.
Polka-Peppered Dress, On sale for just $39.95
(Again, already taken off their website but could still be at some locations)

I love these colors together (navy+kelly green)

This jacket would be so cute with crisp white pants.

This would be so cute paired with white pants.

Brass Band Tank, on sale for $29.95

This necklace is a splurge, but isn't it darling?!

Polyvore.com also has some great nautical-inspired boards.

Fall Fashion

This post might be a little premature, but I've never been so excited to see the end of Summer and the beginning of Fall. I know a lot of people love the summertime, but I kind of dread it because of the insane heat and the lack of good TV shows on at night. It always just seems to drag on...and on...and on. But here we are, already in August, and my mind is rampant thinking about what Fall fashion items I can't wait to wear. I'm not really one to follow trends--I just stick to the classics year after year. Here is my list of top 6 Fall Must-Haves for every wardrobe.

1. A Classic Trench Coat--

It's such a polished look, and can be worn over jeans and a white t-shirt for running errands, or over a little black dress for a night out. Add oversized, black sunglasses to really complete the look. This one pictured is Burberry's, but for a more economical option, try Banana Republic's trench for $198.

2. A Preppy A-Line Skirt--

I'm really loving this entire outfit, from J.Crew. Skirt is on sale for $49.50 and stripe sequin boatneck tee is $72.00.

3. An Oversized Cardigan

When it's not quite chilly enough to wear a coat, a cardigan provides warmth, comfort and style. Make sure to pair with skinny jeans. I wear this look most when eating out for dinner or catching a movie at the theater.

4. Ballet Flats

At the first sign of Fall, I always trade out my flip flops for my ballet flats. I think my favorite will always be Tory Burch's Reva ballerina flats. I already own a black pair, but this Fall I am thinking about investing in a neutral toned pair.

5. A Pretty, Lightweight Scarf

Such an easy and polished way to dress up an outfit as simple as jeans and a tee.

6. An Oversized Tote

Not only pretty, but perfect for toting around everything but the kitchen sink. Love this one Cameron Diaz is wearing, but not sure who makes it. Anyone know?

I can hardly wait to feel that first cool front come through, see the leaves change colors, cook my first pot of chili for the season, and experience it all with a newborn little boy this year!
