RHOBH Homes

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills took second place in my book of favorites from the franchise, second only to The Real Housewives of Orange County. I enjoy watching these two groups much more than the groups who take the drama a bit too far (ahem, New Jersey housewives and your table throwing antics). But mostly I watch because I do love to admire the beautiful homes and decor in the background, and this show did not disappoint.

I'd take any of their homes in a heartbeat, but there are certain elements of each of their homes that I would chose as my favorite. Just for fun, I thought I would share.

Favorite Bedroom: Lisa Vanderpump's
It's 2, 500 square feet--the bedroom alone! It's so hollywood glamorous, but how she got her husband's approval on a pink room is beyond me.

Favorite Outdoor Landscaping and Backyard: Lisa Vanderpump
This backyard oasis truly reminds me of being in the Gardens of Versailles in Paris. I am in love. I would die to have my morning coffee out here. I love all the pink flowers and the uber-manicured look. A chandalier hanging on the patio, yes please! This is such eye-candy, I can't even handle it. They should book weddings in their backyard.

And then there's that closet. Okay, so maybe my favorite everything is in the Vanderpump's home.
Here are some pictures--

Actually, The Vanderpump's home is listed for sale for $29 million, by Kyle's husband Mauricio. Click here to see the listing and more pictures of the house.

Next, lets take a look at Adrienne Maloof's house. It is a bit gaudy to me, although it has some cool features and I do like the master bathroom. See for yourself here...

But, there is one thing that I absolutely love about her house. In the hallway leading to her closet, it looks like she framed her wedding dress and has it hanging on the wall. I think this is such a beautiful idea.  I have tried and tried to find a good picture of it, but this is all I could find.

If I ever have a big closet and I have the wall space, I am so going to do this. It seems like such a shame that my wedding dress is hanging in the back of our guest room closet, when I could be admiring it every day.

On to Camille Grammer's home. It sits in Malibu so it has beautiful sweeping views of the ocean. Okay, Camille's airhead-ness is hard to watch in this clip, but here it is.

Camille Grammer's kitchen is beautiful and I love the pizza oven.

But one idea that I like and normal people like us can totally take away is the fun candy she has in the apothecary jars. I noticed this while watching the show, but you can see it in the video above. One question... how can Camille have time for anything with managing the house manager, the nannies, etc. ha ha!

Then there is Taylor Armstrong's house. Eh. This one didn't impress me as much. I know they only showed a fraction of the house, but I can't get over how ugly the decorating is in the master bedroom. Nothing hung on the walls, no drapes, just kinda blah and it looks like they just moved in. Surely they can afford an interior decorator, right? See for yourself what you think.

Last, Here is Kyle Richard's home. Honestly, nothing really appeals to me in this home. It's very asian zen-like, and I just think the house feels cold. There is no way I could relax in a home like this. Just doesn't feel cozy.

Um, that part about the shower was a tad weird, right?

I didn't include sister Kim's house because it is so modest {by Beverly Hills standards} there is really nothing special to show. Not that it is not beautiful.

What do you think? Whose home would you choose to buy in your fantasy world? Pretty sure I would pick Lisa Vanderpump's.

Eat, Pray, Love

At last! A summer movie that I can't wait to see! I haven't seen a movie in the theater since Sex and the City 2 back in May. Where have all the cute romantic comedies been this summer?

I read 'Eat, Pray, Love' about 3 years ago and absolutely loved it! I think we can all relate to the book-- There are times in all of our lives when we are trying to find ourselves and trying to find out what truly makes us happy. There's nothing better than getting to spend an extended amount of time in a new place--a new environment--to explore and experience new things! I have dreams of one day {in the far, far future-after we have raised all of our children and they are grown and we are retired} Brett and I moving to a new place every 6 months.

For now though, I can eat, pray, and love in Houston.

eat.

pray.

love.

Sex and the City 2

I can't believe I only have to wait about a month and a half more before the Sex and the City 2 movie comes out! (5.28.10) I am so excited! I don't know what it is that I love so much about these fabulous ladies but I just can't get enough. When the first movie came out, I was so excited the night before that I couldn't even sleep...I just know I will be the same this time around! The countdown is on :)

Magazines

It's the weekend, and all I want to do is relax! One of my favorite weekend pastimes is  reading magazines. There is nothing better than curling up in bed with a good one! These are my favorites that I look forward to every month.

If there were one magazine that summed up my decorating style, it would be Traditional Home. I get so many ideas and inspiration from this magazine, and my mom keeps signing me up for a free subscription each year, so it just keeps coming! I think she wants to make sure I inherit her same decorating style. Thanks Mom!

This might be the most vain magazine out there, as it is only about beauty. But, I always come away from it with a list of new lipstick or eyeshadow colors that I want to buy. And sadly, sometimes the desire to have some plastic surgery. j/k

The best all-around magazine. Beauty, Fashion, a few worldly articles, etc. Glamour never disapoints!
Ugh...I am so ashamed to have this on my list. I feel guilty every time I read it, as I know nothing good comes out of my time spent reading it, but I just can't resist. I won't let myself have a subscription, but I save it for short plane rides or when I'm getting my monthly pedicure. Such a guilty pleasure!

What are your favorite magazines?

Golden Globes Fashion

I always get so excited to see award show fashion on the red carpet. Here are my picks for this years globes fashion best and worsts.

BEST:

My #1 favorite of the night was Sofia Vergara. I love dresses like this that are impossibly structured, and I generally love any dress in this fabric. And I love the color. In a fantasy world, this would have been my bridesmaids dresses in our wedding, minus the maroon part. {Abby, are you reading this? Is it ironic that she was my favorite...you decide.}

#2 Favorite--Emily Blunt in this number. It's so feminine and beautiful. Jewelry is perfect too.

#3-Jennifer Aniston--you always wear black and you always play it safe, but this dress was a knock-out! I would never have the guts to wear a slit this high, and personally, I think it could have been an inch or two lower, but still, you look gorgeous. I think it's the fact that you never feels the need to do "fancy updos" with your hair. You don't have to. You're just too cool for that. I am not, however, a big fan of the shoes. Too busy.

#4-January Jones, you look impossibly chic. Love.

WORST:

Sorry Drew. This dress just reminds me of some sort of weird science project with things growing out of the dress. Ick. At first glance I actually kind of liked it but the more I stared at it, the more I hated it.

Tina Fey--I kind of cringe when I see tea-length dresses. It is my opinion that they do not flatter any woman. And if that weren't enough, this pattern is hideous.

Kristen Bell- I like you, I really do. But why must you wear jewelry that looks like you are going to prom? This necklace may have cost a fortune, but it definitely looks like it could be sold in Claire's.

Sandra, I am so glad you won Best Actress for your role in The Blind Side. It may have been my favorite movie of 2009. I really don't feel strong opinions about the dress either way, but was your hair supposed to look like this, with that single strand hanging loose? Please tell me it was the rain! It just looks scraggly to me.

At the end of the day, its just fashion.

Countdown to the Oscars in on!
