The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills took second place in my book of favorites from the franchise, second only to The Real Housewives of Orange County. I enjoy watching these two groups much more than the groups who take the drama a bit too far (ahem, New Jersey housewives and your table throwing antics). But mostly I watch because I do love to admire the beautiful homes and decor in the background, and this show did not disappoint.

I'd take any of their homes in a heartbeat, but there are certain elements of each of their homes that I would chose as my favorite. Just for fun, I thought I would share.


Favorite Bedroom: Lisa Vanderpump's
It's 2, 500 square feet--the bedroom alone! It's so hollywood glamorous, but how she got her husband's approval on a pink room is beyond me.

Favorite Outdoor Landscaping and Backyard: Lisa Vanderpump
This backyard oasis truly reminds me of being in the Gardens of Versailles in Paris. I am in love. I would die to have my morning coffee out here. I love all the pink flowers and the uber-manicured look. A chandalier hanging on the patio, yes please! This is such eye-candy, I can't even handle it. They should book weddings in their backyard.

And then there's that closet. Okay, so maybe my favorite everything is in the Vanderpump's home.

Next, lets take a look at Adrienne Maloof's house. It is a bit gaudy to me, although it has some cool features and I do like the master bathroom. See for yourself here...

But, there is one thing that I absolutely love about her house. In the hallway leading to her closet, it looks like she framed her wedding dress and has it hanging on the wall. I think this is such a beautiful idea.  I have tried and tried to find a good picture of it, but this is all I could find.

If I ever have a big closet and I have the wall space, I am so going to do this. It seems like such a shame that my wedding dress is hanging in the back of our guest room closet, when I could be admiring it every day.

On to Camille Grammer's home. It sits in Malibu so it has beautiful sweeping views of the ocean. Okay, Camille's airhead-ness is hard to watch in this clip, but here it is.



Camille Grammer's kitchen is beautiful and I love the pizza oven.

But one idea that I like and normal people like us can totally take away is the fun candy she has in the apothecary jars. I noticed this while watching the show, but you can see it in the video above. One question... how can Camille have time for anything with managing the house manager, the nannies, etc. ha ha!

Then there is Taylor Armstrong's house. Eh. This one didn't impress me as much. I know they only showed a fraction of the house, but I can't get over how ugly the decorating is in the master bedroom. Nothing hung on the walls, no drapes, just kinda blah and it looks like they just moved in. Surely they can afford an interior decorator, right? See for yourself what you think.



Last, Here is Kyle Richard's home. Honestly, nothing really appeals to me in this home. It's very asian zen-like, and I just think the house feels cold. There is no way I could relax in a home like this. Just doesn't feel cozy.


Um, that part about the shower was a tad weird, right?

I didn't include sister Kim's house because it is so modest {by Beverly Hills standards} there is really nothing special to show. Not that it is not beautiful.

What do you think? Whose home would you choose to buy in your fantasy world? Pretty sure I would pick Lisa Vanderpump's.

Our Little Angel's Baptism

Preston got baptized today, and what a special day it was! Before I share all of the photos, I'll share a little about his outfit. My mom found the following card and showed me the picture on the front. We both loved the little blue bowtie and thought it would be such a cute look to replicate for Preston's special day.

Here's what we came up with. We found the Feltman Brothers white linen outfit at Bering's and purchased a blue bowtie on Etsy. My mom sewed the blue buttons on to match the bowtie. The bowtie was a little larger than we pictured, but he was adorable in it nonetheless.

He also wore white knee-high socks with these monogrammed satin shoes.

The monogrammed lace blanket is a gift from my mother-in-law. Isn't it beautiful? The silver cup is a gift from my mother and we will add it to the family collection.

Here he is, all dressed up and ready to be baptized. I wish we had a better picture of just him in his outfit, but you know how it is... You plan to take them before you leave the house, but no matter how early you start getting ready, you are scrambling out the door to make it in time with no time for pictures.

As soon as he was baptized, he was out. He slept through the rest of the service. See what I mean about the bowtie being too big-ha ha!

Then, back to our house for brunch afterwards...

Our entry table. I used the theme "Our Little Angel" hence the wings hanging from the mirror.

 Guests signed the book "The Littlest Angel" for Preston to keep. I saw this idea on the P is for party blog once and I had to do this.

The tablesetting for brunch at our house. I was trying something new where I seperated all of the different kinds of white flowers into seperate vases.

I got the idea from this picture in Southern Living...

My mom had these perfect white angels that we used on the table.

I get so much joy out of using our china and silver. If you don't use it for these special occasions, then what do you use it for? For brunch, we served Quiches that I ordered from Junior League, delicious orange rolls also from Junior League, asparagus, fruit salad, spinach salad, and cupcakes.

I made the sprinkles cupcakes myself. Ok, so they didn't look as pretty, but they tasted good. I got the angel toppers on etsy.

I dedicated the kitchen to celebrating my mom's birthday, which is tomorrow {Valentine's Day}. She didn't know I was going to do this.

Today was such a special day that I will remember forever. I get a little sad thinking about how quickly all these milestones are coming and going, but just when I get sad I remember that there are plenty of exciting things just around the corner. This first year just keeps getting better so far!

Food for Thought

My mom recently told me she saw a special on the news regarding white rice cereal and a link to childhood obesity, so I did some research to educate myself on what this was all about. Turns out, there is a whole campagn led by Dr. Alan Greene, a pediatrician at Stanford University, to remove all white rice cereal from our grocery store shelves, and instead turn to whole grain rice cereal for baby's first introduction to solids. His theory is that by introducing our babies to white rice cereal, we are predisposing them to prefer whites over whole grains later in life.

I have to say, Greene's theory kind-of makes sense. I mean, I plan on serving whole grains in my household, so why even introduce white bread in the first place? However, I also think that childhood obesity is due to a lot of other factors as well and that this campaign may be a tad sensational, but...there is no downside to giving Preston whole grain rice cereal, so I think I may as well do that. It can't hurt. We are starting him on rice cereal this weekend, so this issue is very relevant to me right now.

Preston {4 months}

My little baby is FOUR months now! He's such a happy little boy and loves to smile at anyone and everything. I had two favorite pictures from this month's photo session, and I just couldn't choose one...

Here are his 4 month stats:

Weight- 18 lbs. 5 oz. (96th percentile)

Height- 27 inches (97th percentile)

Head Circumference- 16.73" (56th percentile)

Our pediatrician has deemed him a "posterchild for breastfeeding" and she is very happy with his size. No, he is not over-fed, just a big strong healthy boy. :)

I was surprised when she also told us he is ready to start cereal! She said that because he is so big {he has definitely doubled his birth weight} and he holds his head up perfectly, she thinks we should go ahead and introduce solids. I am thinking we will start this weekend.

Milestones this month:

Officially outgrown his 6 month clothes--on to the 9 month clothes!

Graduated to Size 3 Diapers today!

Still exclusively breastfed

Loves the tickle monster {aka Daddy's hand}

Eats 6 times a day {7, 10, 1, 4, 7, 10}

Often stops in the middle of his eating to look up and smile at me--so cute!

Sleeps an average of 8-9 hours a night without waking

Is a night owl--He doesn't like going to sleep before 10 PM {sleeps roughly from 10 PM to 7 AM}

Has a new friend-Scout, the stuffed animal puppy that sings songs about Preston.

Was not a fan of his paci this month--kinda just phased it out for about the past 3 weeks

Puts everything in his mouth

Chews on his thumb

Sucks on his bottom lip

Has been drooling heavily and is in the early stages of teething

Has found his feet

Has started really watching Winston, his puppy dog, and reached to touch him

Loves showing off {I think he will always love being the center of attention}

He brings us so much joy and I can't even remember my life before he was in it. Love you, P.

Five Things I'm Digging Now

#1) Atom Art Bowl from Anthropologie

I'm thinking about purchasing this cute little bowl to put in my master bathroom to store necklaces, bracelets, and other jewelry in when I take them off. Afterall, it matches the paint in that room perfectly.

#2) Ballard Designs Perfect Accent Pillows

Who needs to custom order fabric for pillows when Ballard's carries fabrics now as cute as these. I especially love Laguna Khaki, Desert Chenile, Malabar Grey. These would be perfect to change up the look of your couch or master bedroom, and you could never custom order the fabric and have a pillow made for $34-$59.  

#3) Wisteria's Sunburst Mirror

 I'm a little late jumping on this trend, but I have got to get me a sunburst mirror for someplace in my home. Perhaps above the master bed, or maybe in the entry way. They look great anywhere. I especially love this one from Wisteria.

#4) Ralph Lauren Baby Layettes

I am absolutely loving this precious Ralph Lauren Cotton Cable Coverall. But at $85, it doesn't seem to be reasonable for a baby who might wear it twice before he outgrows it. So, onto my next Ralph Lauren Baby find...

This one is much more reasonable and it just Preston's style. I just can't get enough of the baby blue colors on him. I swear that is the only color my little boy wears. It's just too classic and precious. Preston has a closet full of clothes, but I keep going back to anything Kissy Kissy or Ralph Lauren. They are just way softer than anything else I could put him in, and are oh-so-cozy for him.

#5) Frette Rigato Ara Pajamas

Okay, so at $150 these are kinda pricy for PJs, but I swear one of these days I am going to treat myself. I have been eyeing these forever. I just think they are gorgeous pajamas. I first saw them on one of my favorite blogs, The Simply Luxurious Life, and they are the same PJs that Cameron Diaz wore in the movie, The Holiday.
