About 6 weeks ago, Brett and I committed to a 7-month long bible study at our church. We meet once a week, every Wednesday night, for 2 1/2 hours to discuss the stories that we read that week. Weekly reading is often tedious, but so far we have really been enjoying it and have gotten so much out of it. A lot of the stories we've read once or twice already in our lifetime, but we get different things out of the readings at different points in our lives.
So far, we have read Genesis and Exodus and are working our way through Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy. By the end of December, we will have read through 75% of the bible. Pretty cool! I am just proud of ourselves for making the commitment and sticking with it.
It's inspiring to read about God's love for the Israelites and to learn why Jews do certain things even today, based on God's covenant and His instructions to them back then. I will keep you posted on special things this bible study is doing in our lives. We can't wait to keep learning.
